What is collective bargaining?
Collective bargaining is a fundamental mechanism of social dialogue , through which employers and their organizations and trade unions seek to reach agreements regarding the working conditions applicable to the majority of workers in the area in which the negotiation takes place.
Any circumstance that arises as a consequence of the labor relations that exist between companies and workers are usually resolved in this type of negotiation.
All of the above is studied with the objective of establishing a collective agreement that regulates the conditions of employment for a specific sector of workers. In this way, a homogeneous regulation of rights and obligations is achieved, avoiding inequality in labor relations.

When does the negotiation take place?
When we hear "collective bargaining," we immediately associate it with collective agreements, but its scope is much broader. Negotiations cover any aspect related to the working conditions of employees within a company.
As mentioned, it can deal with any employment aspect, such as wages, working time, vocational education and training, occupational health and safety, and equal treatment, etc.
It is necessary to know the negotiation levels, since there are 3 different ones:
- Nacional level, for state agreements.
- Sector Level, for the agreements of a specific production sector.
- Enterprise Level, for company agreements.
